Halloweeen!
I love Halloween, if only for the chance to be creative with a pumpkin! When my children were smaller, Trick or Treat-ing had not made it's way over the Atlantic as far as our corner of Kent, despite ET being out years before. It was just something they did in America. We never had chance to dress up and 'frighten' the neighbours. However, we always carved a pumpkin...
Obviously the bonus the carving pumpkins is the amount of pumpkin flesh we have to make soup, pies or anything else with! Last year I saved some seeds, and roasted some with spices. they weren't a great success, so this year the seeds are being composted (this is me being defeated!). Maybe next year...
Yesterday, armed with pens, knives and spoons, H and I went about designing and cutting the two pumpkins we bought the day before. Each year we try to do a different face:
This year it was my evil witchy face and H's slightly mad face complete with tongue! Lit up, they were the perfect draw for our local tricksters. Just to be sure I was armed with treats to supply them with - Happy days!
Pumpkin soup to come...
