Hot Chocolate Beef Stew with Dumpling lids
Ok, I know we shouldn't play with our food, but those Mug Pies I made recently, gave me another idea for today...
I can't thank Joanna Weinberg enough for the recipe she wrote in her book 'How to feed your friends with relish' - Beef stew with chilli, chocolate and giant garlic croutons. I made it a while back (see March) and it was delicious, so I wanted to make it again. This time I was more generous with the chocolate and having a bar that needed using (not something that usually happens in my house!), I upped the cocoa content to 90%. Wow! It made a difference to the texture of the sauce and the flavour too! I used at least 40g and it sent my humble beef stew into chocolate heaven - the aroma filled the kitchen to the point where I was concerned that I had ruined a good meal. I needn't have worried, it was magical!
So, what could I do with it to give it a little quirky twist of my own...
